Church Offers a Uniqueness to the Season
River City Assembly plans a unique combination of ministry and mission in December. With the theme "God with Us" the church will look at the whole gamut of emotions during the Christmas season with special guests, powerful stories, and lots of fun.
"There's not a Sunday you'll want to miss this next month. Every Sunday will be inspiring and encouraging as we allow God's story to interact with our stories. If you haven't been to church in a while, let us welcome you this holiday season," says Pastor Spencer Keroff, Lead Pastor at River City Assembly.
On Sunday, December 3rd, at 10:00 am. Pastor Spencer will kick off the series "God with Us" with a hopeful reminder of how God proved His love by sending the gift of His Son. This message will also unveil how the church plans to come alongside struggling families in the Yankton Region during December (and beyond).
"This would be a great service for anyone looking for strategic ways to share the light and love of Christ with the hurting and broken in our community.," says Keroff.
Sunday, December 10, 10 a.m., "God with Us in our Tears." Pastor Gary Pilcher will be sharing the moving story of losing their 14-year-old son to cancer and how the Lord walked beside him and his family during that incredibly difficult season.
"We know that not everyone is happy at Christmas; for some, this time of year is incredibly difficult and filled with grief," says Keroff. "We are purposely setting aside a Sunday in December as a Blue Christmas service to give people a place and space to grieve and to allow the ministry of God's presence to be with them amid their heartbreak."
Sunday, December 17, 10 a.m., "God with Us in our Laughter." A renowned comedian, Kenn Kington, will share his antics during the morning service. Kenn has been entertaining audiences for over 30 years; he is a versatile performer well-versed in comedy, corporate, and non-profit shows. Kenn has a unique ability to connect with his audience and make them laugh out loud. He is a great storyteller, and his performances are always energetic and humorous; this will be an excellent service to relieve some of that holiday stress. Sunday, Christmas Eve, December 24, 10 am or 4 pm, "God with Us in HIStory." Two 1-hour Christmas Eve candlelight service options are planned for this day. These services will be filled with traditional Christmas carols, special music, stories, and videos as we contemplate how the Lord has invited us into His story.
Sunday, December 31, 10 a.m., "God with Us in the New Year." Keroff says, "Beyond New Year's resolutions and empty promises, what would 2024 look like if we had a new slate and fresh dreams? This is a must not miss service as you pivot for the future."
