Drone Revolution

The Revolution
They’re coming in droves to spray crops, inspect high-voltage power lines, and hover over movie sets to give directors new vantage points. They will work for insurance companies, real estate agencies, ski resorts and dozens of other businesses.

Right now, most Americans associate drones with the military, used on the battlefield. But what's slowing the explosion in the public arena? – the slow moving government.

If they speed up the process, areas one benefits from drones:
Farms – A drone surveys a farm, find bugs or soil that is too dry or too low in nutrients and then send the exact coordinates to a tractor that will apply pesticide, water or fertilizer only to areas in need.

High-voltage Inspector - Send a drone on a coordinated route, program the drone to look for problems and the drone reports breakage.

Directors - Several drones hovering over a movie set heightens the viewer's experience.

One imagines many more scenarios: Drone hovering over your house to give you a birds-eye-view for security, entertainment or to sell your house.
The possibilities are limited only by imagination.  How would you use a drone?

Wagon Train Westward

Last fall, the governors of the Dakotas gathered at the front of the Capital to honor the wagon train teams that traveled from Yankton to Pierre South Dakota. They were marking the 125 years of statehood.

The wagons averaged about 15 to 17 miles per day. Yankton was the original capital of the Dakotas until it was moved in 1883 to Pierre as a more central location. President Harrison signed the admission of the two Dakotas as states on November 2, 1889.

City Chicks

I’m reading many articles, where people are getting chicken -and not on farms. Southeastern Virginia is changing regulations to allow hens and sometimes roosters within the towns and cities.
Jenny Justice is a “chicken raiser.” “My grandparents had a farm in the mountains of southwest Virginia, and I loved visiting and helping with the farm animals chores.”

She goes on to say, “we got our girls – four Rhode Island Red hens – Mother’s Day 2014 when they were 10 weeks old.” And, “I love the way they run to the door to greet me.”
I wouldn’t mind having some chickens in the back yard. I’m not sure the birds would last my two boys, 5 & 6.

Would you like chickens in your back yard?

Home Births

Home Births

Home births have increased across the United States. But in Nebraska the numbers of children born at home stays low because of a law making it illegal for certified nurse midwives to assist in a home birth. Nebraska joins with only one other state in this law, Alabama.

The fight is over the question: Who should control childbirth – the mother or the medical system. Opponents of home birth say it’s important that the mother give birth where she is comfortable and in control of the moment.

Medical officials argue that the hospital is the place should an unexpected complication occur.

Should women be given the choice where to have a baby?

Review of Sexual Misconduct News Reporting

Let’s take a look at how the news has reported sexual misconduct.
1. A President has a sex act performed on himself while in the White House and continues as President.
2. A powerful leading Democrat, former Speaker of the House, is discovered to have, while a coach and teacher molested at least two boys. (Understandable if you’ve not heard this because it was only reported on one or two days.)
3. A teenage boy is curious, and while his victims sleep he explores. (Not all incidents though.) This runs in the media for weeks.
Cover-up

1. President looks into camera and says, “I did not have sex with that woman.” He lies and does not have consequences other than embarrassment, but instead makes millions with a speaking tour. And his wife says she destroyed thousands of emails but later says, “found them,” and releases the Congress ordered emails a few at a time. –no outrage.
2. Leading Democrat pays millions for the victim to be silent. – no outrage.
3. The family deals with this problem and the wrong doing in-house. News media brings out the cross and wants to crucify this family – over and over again.

Borrowing a jingle from Sesame Street:  “One of these three are not like the others, can you guess which one it is?”

Give yourself a round of applause if you’ve picked the third. Josh did a horrible, wrong, inexcusable thing.

The Lesson from the News media: You can do horrible things – except make a mistake while professing to be Christian.

More Duggars

I watched the news interview of the Duggars yesterday and I understand so much more. If you haven't seen it, it's easily googled.
Here are some quotes:
Michelle Duggar: "The children have been victimized more by what has happened in the last couple of weeks than they were 12 years ago because, honestly, they didn't even understand and know that anything had happened until after the fact when they were told about it."
(Josh told his parents he touched his sisters when they were asleep. -That's how the parents found out.)
Jim Bob Duggar: "We had nothing to hide. We'd taken care of all that years before."
Michelle and Jim Bob: "The leaked report is an unprecedented attack on our family."
(I might add - it was illegal - and - where is the outrage in that?)
I listened to the interview with the Police Chief's lawyer. He said that the Police Chief got involved simply because of the Duggar name. "If it was John Doe, she wouldn't gotten involved." The lawyer is putting the blame on the attorney that gave the Police Chief advice to release the under aged police report.
Jessa Duggar "My brother's actions were wrong but added, "I do want to speak up in his defense against people who are calling him a child molester or a pedophile or a rapist, some people are saying. I'm like, that is so overboard and a lie, really. I mean, people get mad at me for saying that, but I can say this because I was one of the victims."
